Common Causes of Acne

Acne is a serious skin condition that can affect any person at any given age. While it is true that this condition is most present in individuals as they enter the age of puberty known as adolescence however there are many other issues that can lead to this occurrence as well. The main cause of acne in adolescents is the constant changing hormones that teenagers go through during this time in their lives but let’s take a look at some other issues that may lead to the occurrence of acne.
Lifestyle Choices
When many people think of lifestyle choices they do not automatically connect this with nutritional habits. The truth of the matter is how we eat plays a very large role in how our skin looks and feels. For example, if you consume large amounts of foods high in fat content or that are excessively greasy it may cause you to have seriously oily skin.
Oily skin is a breeding ground for acne issues because these oils clog the pores resulting in the development of blackheads. Blackheads are caused by dirt and debris becoming trapped in the pores which in turn leads to serious outbreaks of acne.
Pregnancy
Because the occurrence of hormonal changes can also cause outbreaks of acne pregnant women commonly battle this problem. This is because the hormones are often all over the place during pregnancy. This not only leads to the development of acne but also commonly causes women to be extremely emotional during this time.
Improper Cleaning
Even if you do everything you can to avoid the breakout of acne if you don’t keep your skin clean it is going to have very little overall effect. When your skin is dirty it can lead to serious acne breakouts and keeping your skin clean is very important to good skin health and the reduction of acne.
There are several steps that you can take to prevent acne one of which includes daily facial cleansings with an effective cleanser that is not oil based and will not dry out your skin. Alcohol is definitely not the right choice for skin cleansing as it often leads to seriously dry skin.
Unfortunately not every case of acne can be prevented and when this is the case there are many products that a person can use in an effort to clear the skin when acne has already become an issue. Some of the most common acne treatments include such ingredients as benezoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and resorcinol. These ingredients are common to most effective acne products and often have the desired effect of clearing the skin quite quickly.
In the event that a person has extremely sensitive skin and is unable to use traditional acne treatments there are a variety of home remedies that are often quite effective. The best way to find an effective acne treatment is to try several different options until you find one that works for you. Remember that every person is different and what works well for one person may not be as effective for someone else.
